Cucurucho on ClubGG: pot or fold

Cucurucho is a ring-game mode ClubGG added on 21 October 2026: you get your hole cards and the flop together, your only choice is to bet the pot or fold, and the turn and river then run out with no more betting. Antes come in at an interval the host sets, and a Double Board option splits the action across two boards.

Where Cucurucho comes from

ClubGG introduced the mode in a blog post tagged "Brazil", calling it "a poker format born from Brazil's thriving poker scene". It went live with the 21 October 2026 update as a ring game mode — you sit and leave whenever you like, rather than playing a tournament.

The rules, as ClubGG describes them

  1. Periodic ante. Antes go in at an interval the host sets, either by number of hands played or by time.
  2. Instant flop. Your hole cards and the flop are dealt together. There is no pre-flop betting.
  3. Pot or fold. On the flop you have exactly two options: bet the size of the pot, or fold.
  4. Auto run-out. The turn and river are dealt with no further betting. Best hand wins.
  5. Double Board (optional). Hosts can deal two boards, which ClubGG says gives "more ways to scoop or split".

Worked example: one decision, done right

Assumptions for this example. ClubGG doesn't publish the number of hole cards, the deck, or how a second player answers an earlier pot bet. We use two hole cards from a 52-card deck and assume each player who stays in puts in the same pot-sized amount. The odds logic works the same whatever your table's details are.

The pot holds 60 chips from antes. Your cards and the flop arrive together:

You: 8♥7♥ Flop: 9♥6♣2♥

Count your outs. Any heart gives you a flush (9 left), and any 10 or 5 gives you a straight (6 more that aren't hearts): 15 outs. With 47 unseen cards and two to come, you hit by the river about 54% of the time.

Price the bet. A pot bet here is 60. If one opponent also stays in, you risk 60 to win the 60 in the middle plus their 60 — 120 for 60, so you need just over 33% to break even. 54% clears it easily: pot.

Same flop, worse hand. You hold K♣4♦. Against a pair of nines, only the three remaining kings help: about 12.5% by the river. Well under 33%: fold and wait for the next flop.

Rule of thumb: because there's no betting after the flop, your flop equity is your result. If you'd want to get the money in on this flop in Hold'em, pot; if you'd be hoping for a cheap turn, fold — there's no cheap turn in Cucurucho.

Double Board in practice

With Double Board, two separate boards run out under the same hole cards. In double-board poker generally, each board wins half the pot — so you can scoop (win both halves) or split (win one). ClubGG describes its option only as "more ways to scoop or split", so check the table info for exactly how the pot is divided.

For hosts: setting up a table

ClubGG's path is Club → table creation → Ring Game → Game Mode: Cucurucho, subject to club permissions — so Managers may need the Master to allow it. Decide the ante interval up front (every N hands, or every N minutes) and put it in your Club Notice; players who've never seen the format will ask. More on running tables in the hosting guide; if your players are new to the club, send them the Club ID guide first.

What isn't published yet

  • Number of hole cards, and whether it's a full 52-card deck.
  • How the ante amount relates to the stakes, and whether antes carry over between hands.
  • Who acts first on the flop, and how a pot bet is sized after someone else has already bet.
  • Whether Cucurucho works with club Bad Beat Jackpots, EV Cashout or Run It Twice.

Until ClubGG documents these, sit out a few hands and watch, or ask your host. Our table features page tracks which gadgets are confirmed. Compare with other games on ClubGG formats.
